I recently started playing the Bass Guitar (I call it playing, some might call it noise) and just wondered if there are any others...

Maybe we could start the FC band...

For Bass freaks... I submit... Victor

Boss....I'm jealous..I've been secretly wanting to play bass since I was in high school. I would watch my hubby (boyfriend then) and his band play/practice. Have FUN and Enjoy...oh and watch for blisters. You rock!

I could back you up on Percussion instruments or the harp...but the harp would sound pretty weird with Master J's hard rock drummin' LOL!

I think it's great that you are learning to play an instrument! Stick with it...you'll rock the church band! Bring on "tha Funk" Boss!

I'm a frustrated drummer, wish I started guitar, but don't have the patience for it. I am better at banging the crap out of things LOL:musical:
You can bang the crap out of a bass too ;)

Good video Adam, but I think the floor tom needs a 1/4 turn on the nuts....

I have been learning guitar since the new year started. Enjoying it alot!! So can I be in the band too, huh huh, can I, can I? :)

Okay, maybe I'm not ready for an audience just yet but I can sing. I can sing back-up as an alto or take lead, your choice. :)

Seriously, I did want to mention that I have found a web site that I just love called www.nextlevelguitar.com and that is how I am learning to play. I don't know if he talked about bass at all but I can check if you are interested. But if anyone else out there is a guitar player, you should check it out. They have lessons for everyone from the very beginner to advanced.

Can I do keyboard in your band?

Several years ago, I was the keyboard for a local group that performed quite often. They consisted of 3 doctors and a man named Dick from Hickory County. The name of the group was "Hickory Dick and the Docs".

Later when they lost Hickory Dick, they renamed the group Alapecia ( a play on Alabama) because they were all going bald.

Huh Huh, he said NUTS, huh huh,

Don't ask me tune my drums LOL, my ears are shot! LOL
The recording is also very compressed because of quality of Mic on flip video recorder...

So who is going to sing?!

Lets get that band started!
I'm a pretty darn good singer, but mostly in the shower.

Victor is a monster - I've seen him live with Bela Fleck. Definitely one of the best bass players alive.

Interesting book I just 10 minutes ago read the last chapter of, this morning by a bass player.

"Searching for the Sound" by Phil Lesh from the Grateful Dead.

I think the Dead always needed 2 bass players, like they had drummers, and have never been a Phil Lesh fan since he was rude to me once in about 1968 when we wanted to record them at a gig my music store was paying for...1 of 4 times we brought them to Portland and get this, first 2 times we brought the entire GD to Portland to play in a small bar and the cost was $2500. (I don't remember too much about those nights however, the wine and OJ was heavily spiked).

But the book is very very good, excellently written, intelligent with a good enough vocabulary to make me learn something without having to go to the dictionary.

And best part fo me was many of the occasions he described in the book, such as the Human Be-In - I was there for.

I don't consider myself a DeadHead but I did see them probably about 70 times.

LOL! Cowbells really ARE considered a percussion instrument here in the deep south. But I have to say...I've never played one!

I can play tambourine, cabasa, maracas, click/clack, shakers, rain stick, tick/tock block, and a really cool thing I got from my sis for my b-day. It was made in some remote island...it has a wooden handle with lots of 4/5 inch ropes coming off the top. At the end of each rope is a hollow, dried bean pod thing. This instrument makes the BEST sound ever! I LOVE percussion! I'd really like to learn to play the bongo drums and other native style drums. The more exotic the percussion sound...the better! There are SO many FUN percussion instruments from all over the world. So many instruments...so little time....(sigh)

You are SO right. Like this guy from Afghanistan. I believe Bloomz said he spent time there, can certainly see his influence!
