Percussionist here...

Adam beat me to it - drummer extraordinaire here. Can play them all: jazz set, concert snare, tympani - little bit of xylophone (haven't played that since high school...)

Played in the Penn State Blue Band, had a band of my own in high school/early college years (called Chemical Road) and dabble here and there currently...mostly just jammin'... :musical:

Actually, I am thinking of selling my 1960's Gretsch drum kit - complete with tons of cymbals, extra heads, etc - refinished in the late 80's when my band would do gigs. Largest gig we did was for a Battle of the Bands at Villanova U. Wow...memories.

I'm interested in a Roland electronic set now - need $3k though - don't have. So, that's why thinking of selling the acoustic set. Due to it's age, I hear I may be able to get $2 - 3k for it. May put on Craig's list... There's my new Roland e-set!

I will try to post an OLD picture of the guys in my band - think I know where one is.

- H.

PS - good luck with the Bass BOSS. My brother plays bass - still. Was in my band too...

Yeah - I taught that Afghani guy how to play that....

OK I'll fess up. I was a string bass major. Player from the age of 4. TV shows & all. In college I started playing bass guitar & had an all girl band (unheard of in the day) gigged frat houses and parties at Cornell. Haven't played since I stopped teaching and the flower bug hit me. I think I may have lost my chops, but I'd like to be in the band too!!!! I'll start practicing, I promise!

Master J - Not only do you indeed need to tighten the floor tom a hair - I also think you need to tighten your crash cymbals a bit - either that or give them a good brasso polishing - the crash cymbals sound a tad flat.

btw. - I work with my church band as the sound engineer.

I work with our monitor board while another guy handles the out leads. I use a Mackie VLZ 16 channel analog mixer for the monitor mix. Our mains mixer is a Yamaha digital 24 channel mixer.

Dudes, the drums are in my basement collecting dust, LOL, I don't plan on tuning them anytime soon, if you want, you can come over and tune them for me ;)

Also- the recording is through a crappy little mic on the flip video, and the acoustics in my basement are horrible, sheesh, Oh & I won't be playing in the church band anytime soon either LOL!

I take my hat off to you Rick! Doing sound for a church (especially a small, acoustically dysfunctional church) is super hard! People are ALWAYS screwing up the sound board...arg! Then, trying to get monitors, amps and mics adjusted so that everyone is happy is next to impossible!

I played percussion in my old church's band (we ROCKED!) but we didn't have an experienced sound guy. Boy was THAT a nightmare!

Make us sound good Rick!!!

We need a name....

Spirit Man and the Flower Chatters?
Boss Man and the Flower Whisperers?
Spirit Man and the Funky Florists?

suggestions????

We are lucky - The architect who designed the church building we are in had an ear for acoustics.....Our church building has great acoustics.

A large part of your acoustic mix in in the equipment you use. Take for example, the microphone - We use exclusively Sennheiser Mics, Peavey Amps and Cabs, Shure Gated Processors, and not everybody knows they make them, but Sennheiser makes a great quailty stage snake that we had hard wired into the church electrics. Also, all our sound equipment is on one circuit to itself......We can cut the power to the whole system with one switch.

How about The Wilted for the band name?? ;)

I was always fond of the name for a band of

The Repeat Offenders.

Don't ask me why...
