Last year a group of florists in the Waterville Maine area did a press release regarding false listings, Order Gatherers etc. They did get good press BUT the problem lies with - they were informing their customers about it, educating that segment locally. It possibly brought them more orders to "send out" but not necessarily "orders in".
Until a national press release, well thought out and planned, with a brilliant spokesperson, reaching all the major networks and leaving out any "designs" that were fulfilled through FTDTEL800 or PF/JF etc - major public education is at a standstill. This is where the FPO (Flower Promotion Organization) and/or SAF should be working at (but I don't believe either are interested).
It is too bad that each state that has a functioning State Florists' Association (and all states should have one) can't communicate toward this problem. Monies from TFTD800 shouldn't influence any of their actions.
