We didn't get a letter and I can't say it bothers me. If they don't want to include us - their loss.

I am NEITHER TF or FTD. I bought the shop as a liquidator for 2% on the dollar. I though it would be interesting and set up a daughter as designer. Was told that incoming orders were the greatest thing since sliced bread. Had the guys and gals hanging around the computers and faxes waiting for INCOMING orders! Gads! I figured out in 8 weeks that both were a real rat hole. I tried all sorts of things, cut this out, remove this item on the statement, remove ads in the directories, etc. Cut COGS, cut hours, cut jobs. Such extra flab in the shop. Tighten up the ship. Went with a website as I am good at that. We did better for the bottom line with each change, BUT......BUT not good enough, so I dropped TF this summer. Bottom line went up by 25% for the month. That's BETTER! Then I considered FTD: you know what? My incoming FTD for Dec. was down 78% and my NET was up 42%. My out of area orders were phoned out. It was so nice talking to other florists. So that was the clincher... I dropped FTD, too. So you see, MIkey, I am wire free! Sorta like being debt free or LSD free or smoke free or....well, you get the idea. I am telling you, people in other businesses just laugh when I tell them about these WS. NO other business lets service providers do this to them. I sure don't want to be laughed at like that again. My Valentines Day was also WS free and my NET was up 22%. My Saturday the 14th was as good a 14th as the year before. I'll take that every day, every month. My local orders were up but I did not have the mad rush this year and I really did enjoy the holiday instead of hating it. Sorry, I got so sharp but I hate to see such nice people be so...sooo! :wallhead:

Got my call yesterday from FTD about the National Affiliate Program, welcoming me in. He told me my letter was mailed last week. Well When I told him I was thinking of leaving, offers to stay was on the table. I told him to call back because I had people in the store and I was alone, he did'nt yet.
Free offer like free mothers day advertising for my town....do I have a surprise for him, THey never advertise in my town....

Maybe they have a surprise for you....

I know I have said this before, and not too many folks seem to be paying attention, but... I think you are going to find a better relationship with regard to FTD and in the not too distant future...

it's about time.......

...sure hope what you guys are saying about FTD comes true.

It's been a "LONG" "HARD" "ROAD" living w/ all the fee increases and negativity associated w/ both FTD and Teleflora. I suppose this is what MTFG was talking about "something brewing"....

we have not received any notice of this and if there is ANY fee associated w/ it they can surely count me out! What they should do is provide incentives to reduce the monthly fee's instead of "penalties!" still have that "bad" feeling about both services.

I'll believe it when I see it. I've been hearing about the newer, softer FTD for a few years, complete with the Mea Culpas and "We'll do betters" from FTD staff. During these same few years they've developed further drop-shipping, signed up National Grocers (incl Loblaws) and delivered winners like the WaterDawg.

Not really, FTD did sign up one the other service dropped.

The same one selling 40cm. long stem roses arranged in an old Chicken Soup Bouq. bag for 50 bucks cash and carry. True FTD LOVE.

It's enough to give one VD.

Is membership really down to that magical number boobbie was hoping for???

Of course this whole thread is very much like the Republican versus the Democrat issue. The other side is always wrong regardless of the actual facts...

It's not that ther'er wrong. It's just that were always right.

Ftd runs a nice, slick, fun, classy type ads. Somehow it just doesn't fit the same feeling I get as a real world experience. When visiting my local FTD Supermarket Flowershop.

By all accounts, The following flowers are never, if ever avaliable to fill an order with.

Liatris, gerbera, larkspur, iris, snaps, stock, tulips freesia, wax flower, liminoum, heather, ginestra, forget tropicals, hydrangia ect. Actually, any flower that needs refrigeration.

The other basic flowers are avaliable in premade bunches or loose like roses and carnations.

By all accounts, most, if not all the arrangements in the selection guide couldn't be filled by them. But they do fill what they get with what they have.

FTD couldn't pay me enough toi help re-establish their creditability in the market place. They are welcome to drop-ship themselfs straight to H...

You probably DON'T "have" to help....

FTD is currently growing in the DOUBLE DIGITS!
As with ANY BUSINESS...flowers or NO flowers...things HAVE to be done in the PAST, to MAKE WAY, for the FUTURE!

I'm just going to sit back and see what the New Owners (same Managment team) will do in the coming year.

One thing will be no more Public Trading I was told.

Should be interesting

And yup... as of Tuesday I think it was, FTD is no longer a public company...

I too Shel, am waiting to see "what happens next"...

Nice to see FTD growing ... too bad it's all in non-floral areas. But at least they can count on the steady, monthly contributions of the faithful flag-wavers.

The "deal" IS DONE....

the last 8 years, have taken FTD from a fragile appearing organization, with a heavy debt load, and falling membership, to a soon to be reclaimed industry leader, on the cusp of dominance, in both!
The Perry Group is out, made a HUGE PROFIT from a company that was "purported" to be sinking, paid off ALL their outstanding debts, split their share values,AND developed NEW marketplaces for everything that FTD is involved in!!
Teleflora has NO CHANCE of EVER catching FTD!
Teleflora WILL ATTEMPT to do, what FTD has ALREADY DONE!
Teleflora HAD the chance to "dominate"(I said that openly) and blew it!
Teleflora has NOT developed ANY programs OR technology to "help" florists.
Teleflora WAS the "leader" in container design, implementation, AND design through the Franklin Mint..which is NOW closing!
Teleflora's management team DID NOT make the necessary changes to it's hierachy to rapidly deploy change as required.
FTD will continue to see TF in it's rear view mirror.

Yup Mikey and...

With regard to the FTD National Affilliate Program...

The "TOP 100" do NOT qualify... and are NOT part of this group !

Time to move forward....

Hey, Mikey

FTD will go very far....make lota money but not with or for you or me or any other florist. We are peons in their grand plans. I' ll bet you ANY thing I will be right on!

Judy

If the top 100 are not included in this "new program", then could it be that the majority are not really "flowershops"?

I would think that some higher up(s) from the local FTD Supermarket will be hob nobing with Blooms for a week at their indoctrination camp.
So while their there figuring out who they can't really send their orders to. FTD will work on the next level of members to cultivate and maintain a reliable sourse to get the other groups orders filled...

I do wonder if someone from 1-800 Flowers is attending FTDs summer camp? I figure they have to fall into that top 100 class.

Well K...

I guess then that Becks in Peoria, and Colman Bro.s in Richmond, and other top 100 folks are not real ?.. simply because they have a huge local brand ?

nah.... ya can't be saying that.....

I concur, even I have some issues with some of the "members" in the upper eschelon... but give it time....

Have a DAY! K....

Local brands in large population areas are a given reality. Always has been. Always will be.

However, it's always been that top 100 that has had the greatest influence on future policy decisions. So now the "others" are being cultivated in simular fashion. Where "their" agenda doesn't necessarly correspond with the membership as a whole.
