Has anyone seen the Hong Kong Wrap bouquets? I've noticed them on a lot of the California florist websites and just wondered how they are done. I can't tell if they are wrapped with tissue paper or tulle. Anyone know how they are wrapped?

Those are really pretty. It looks like a combo of tissue and cello. A few looked like tulle was used also.

Much nicer than the ones you see in the grocery store!

How pretty! It looks like each focal flower is indivudually cradled in a tissue puff, then wrapped w/filler & whatnot in a larger puff. Also looks like cello, tissue & that woven fabric wrap combo.

Very pretty - good idea for dance recitals.

:)

we do similar

The ones on the pics where the tissue and cellophane is on the outside is how we do our bouquets only not as many layers. One layer of tissue and one layer of cellophane. They are then placed in a box. I knew them as chelsea wraps.

I find it very expensive to use tulle or fabric around a bouquet, and tend to use just the tissue and cello.

we dont use them inside the bouquet, i think that detracts from the flowers.

I might try some layering tomorrow actually and see how that goes.

To get that ethereal cloth-like look - try using gossamer fabric.

You can get it through most of your party supply places.

Rick i think oasis do a wrap called fabric wrap or something similar i cant remember? I think its quite exp for your every day bouquet, i only use something like this for an exp bouquet. How about you?

Found another California site, with prices
WOW. Still like them - are they wrapped as a loose bouquet on the bottom, with exposed stems? None of the pics are side views ....

Either loose stems tracey or in a bubble of cellophane which is another popular thing over here. I can post some pics of how you fold the cello etc and tissue if you like, dont mean to sound like you all dont know but if its not practised over here??

I like them too. Maybe as a super special Valentine for my shop. I bet there is a decent amount of time involved in the first ones you do, and material. Love the look though. My mind is intrigued with coming up with a version that would sell in my shop. Thanks for the inspiration today!

Oh I'd love that! I'm sure we could wrangle a version of it, but always better to have an experienced hand show the way :)

right i will do it tomorrow, you have to remember that i am pathetic at taking photographs but i will show you how to fold the tissues and then put it on, so that you get all your corners and points showing. Oh this is going to be fun, pls dont judge.... Its late here now so cant do it now.

thanks palms, for showing us Americans! I agree with Tracy- great for dance recitals 'Ballet wrap' has a nice ring to it I think!
I have a little ballet thing coming up in Dec- Thanks for posting about these
your timing is PERFECT!

Oh man, yuck.

I do not like those at all. phew.

At a shop I worked for in OKC, we had to tie tulle around each rose... all of them.

Those hong kong wraps remind me of that.

I showed 'em to Natalie, she don't like them either.

Some of them look like they used that expensive woven sheeting like our wholesaler sells, it's pretty expensive. I was asking in the UK forum about how they wrap their bouquets and they do a bubble of water on the bottom with cello. I'm interested in seeing Palms photos as well, they seem to have such a pretty way of wrapping bouquets over there. Most people do one sided elongated wraps for presentation, but I prefer a round hand tie.

Glad I'm not the only one. I don't care for them either. Too "frou-frou" for me :) I love a simply wrapped posy but- that's just too over the top for my tastes.

We get requests for this style here and there, I may have to consider promoting this option.

Ok, i had a little go at taking some pics today but did not have much time and we had a power cut half way through. My pics are not great but i hope it gives the general technique. As i mentioned i dont do any wrapping within the bouquet around single flowers, only around the handtied as a whole. I had to take these pics on my own as well so i will do this properly when i have someone in with me and i have more time.

First make you handtied bouquet, then fold the tissue as shown, 2 pieces. Then fold 2 pieces of cellophane the same, cut oblong pieces rather than square as the points seem to work better. Then when you have made your handtied hold it upside down as shown and wrap the first tissue around it so that the points are around the edge of the bouquet. Stick the two sides at your binding point with sellotape. Then put the second piece around the other side of the bouquet. Hopefully this is shown ok in pics. Then repeat with cellophane. The pics in the link have done several layers, i just use two because of the cost. I usually then put the bouquet in a bouquet box of if loose i tie some raffia around the binding point.

Please ignore the gyp, i am using it up from an order (i dont mind it that much anyway but know there are gyp haters out there).
