I'm making a hand-tied Lily of the Valley bouquet today and the LOV is mixed with other longer stem flowers. Since some of my stems are very short, I thought about adding wet cotton and taping the LOV and sweet pea together to make longer stems.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any tricks to working with short stemmed LOV since it is so delicate (and EXPENSIVE in October!)

Wow, I didn't even realize you could get that in October! :hammer:
Would a small water tube be crazy? I know the stems are soft but it could work, I think....

I think that would work fine Moca both of those flowers hold up pretty well if processed right and don't really poop out.
Mind me asking........how much was the LOV? Very curious, and where on earth did you get it?

I got it through my local wholesaler. It's a 10 stem bunch for $39. (Ouch) Quality is great! It's actually better than the LOV I had in May. I also saw it on the lists for Mayesh and June.

I've learned that you can pretty much get anything you want any time of the year but you sometimes have to pay a pretty penny.

Is it dutch?? Did it come with the root stock???

If it came with the root stock, by all means take the stems out and plant the root stock, in 5 or 6 years you will have more LOV than you know what to do with between may and june....I have about 150 stems in a 3'x3' area by my pond...so fragrant and huge strong stems...all from root stock that I got from buying dutch LOV...

Lori, that's brilliant! Unfortunately, I already processed them and threw out the root stock. I will do this in the future. (I can't green dot you, but thanks!)

All done! Turned out very nice- here's a picture:

Mocha, What photo program do you use? Your shot is really, really nice. I just can't get that crispness with my digital. I assume you 'touched up' the photo...jenny

I didn't edit it at all. I have a Canon Power Shot (one of the nicer ones) and I put it on a tripod. I have a front window that gets lots of natural light and try to set up the bouquets there with an organza background.

YUM!!!!!!!!!!! I think that is just amazing!
Is there white scabiosa in the bouquet or is it just the wine..hahha
Beautiful job!
great pic!
