We don't get much action from them but they'll continue to get my $.

It's the only directory that comprehensively lists all flower shops and doesn't try to OG in the process.

The just made it to #1 in Google for 'florists' and that's a good thing. (They will waffle around the top couple spots depending on data center.) I'd much prefer consumers hitting there than ...umm... most of the others sites on that page.

If every real florist were to get behind locateaflowershop.com, link, link, link. Griff felt there would be no way they wouldn't be #1 on all engines, all the time. Locate has been the only true directory going. But then again to get 20000 florists to see something this simple and get behind it would be a feat to be hold.

I've been advertising with them for quite a few years now. I have a link to my website on it also. I get many calls/orders from this directory. You get quite a few zip codes for one fee and that is what makes it worth it. If it was only for one or two zips that would be different. It's gained popularity quite a bit in our area in the last year.

I give and offer of $5.00 off by mentioning the ad. When they mention it I know they found us there. About 50% mention the ad and the other 50% say the name of the site or similar and I can figure it out. Weird how only hald the people notice the offer or care.

Well worth the price for us!

More orders than ad clicks

I receive more orders from locateaflowershop.com than I do with my keyword advertising with Yahoo and Google. I am very pleased with the response that I receive from locateaflowershop.com. They are usually listed 1 or 2 when searching for a flower shop in my area.

Some stats

As much as I like this site, I am just not sure it's worth it. Anybody have a different opinion?
Some referal stats from my website 2006;
www.localflowershop.com 33 ($99)
www.locateaflowershop.com 22 ($179 as I understand the new price)
www.ilocalflorist.com 14 ($49)
www.flowershopnetwork.com 19 (for 6 months, I did not renew. I believe it was $399...19 does not include "direct" orders)

As a benchmark, I recieved 115 referals from www.yellowpages.superpages.com in that same time period.

I guess that when anyone pays to get listed on one of these directories, their degree of satisfaction with ANY results is directly related to their original expectations.

It always surprised me that florists were willing to pay a minimum of $250 a month to belong to a WS and questioned the value of that WS based on the number of incoming orders every month. At the same time, florists also invest in local yellow page advertising and never questioned how many orders were generated from this form of advertising. Most only moaned about the high cost. And every couple of months, someone will question the results of internet directories. Yet many florists are more than willing to pay money every month to a WS on RENTAL of their website in the possession of the WS and never question the actual cost compared to orders received.

Can someone explain that?? If a florist pays $150 annually for listing on a directory and gets only 10 - $50 orders in the year directly from customers or pays $50 a month to a WS for WS hosting and receives 36 orders "reportedly full value orders" annually through the WS, which is better?? Please understand. I'm not picking on Ted for asking the question. The problem is that no two florists are likely to have the same results with the same directory, so why do so many people ask the same questions when it comes to directories???

This direct2florist.com directory is very strage. I just search for my shop zip 13203 and my shop comes up 2nd and reads correctly at 0.0 miles distance but if you look at my address I have a zipcode that is not 13203 it is 12417 not even close to mine and everyone else listed has screwed up zipcodes. So If my zipcode is not listed correctly then how do I come up correctly under a search for my zipcode? I sure hope nobody tries to send me mail using that address!

We weren't aware of a problem with zipcodes. Thanks for pointing this out.

It does work fine for our florists in the UK. Try a search for my postcode in the UK which is BL6 7HP. My local florist comes up with pictures of her bouquets.

Don't be so critical!

Graham

OMG! For my zipcode, 29673, I'm not listed, but there are 10 (ten!) "florists" listed who no longer exist. Of the remaining 6 listed, 2 are duplications.

I sure hope the direct2florist site did not pay tooooo much for the US directory, my area shows that it's atleast 12yrs old, maybe 15yrs.

I also did a search for my zip and our business did show up...along with a business that closed more than 3 years ago
did a search in other zips around NV and found out of date information. great idea tho. very straight foreward with the phone # listed.

Hmmmm

If your listing is incorrect please e-mail me and I will correct it.

We paid a lot of money for the database of USA florists and we only got it a few weeks ago and believed it was up-to-date.

Sorry about this.

I am glad i got your feedback.

I tried our zip code and the three major shops are there, but so are 15 others--some have closed, some are just liquor stores that sell some flowers, etc. I think this truly points out one issue with the big web directories--you don't know who you're dealing with. All you need is a name and a few bucks and voila! you're in the directory.

I just typed in my zip code, 80016. There were 21 other florists that came up. Mine did not. Not a single shop that came up is actually in zip 80016???

Ummmm

You only pay if you want a picture of your shop and your flowers, including your own prices listed in international currencies and a free shopping cart and order-tracking software. You can change your product listings easily and at any time.

We at florist2florist believe it will replace the wire service and the public will get 100% of their hard earned cash spent on the flowers.

Regarding the database. I now realise it is not perfect. Again, if anyone wants things deleting, amending, adding etc. I will be happy to do this.

Search engine advertising. We have a full-time web programmer who's sole job is to get this site to the top of the search engines.

Stop Moaning!!
