Thanks

These are valid points.

It is difficult getting a database of florists that is 100% accurate.

We didn't appreciate how inaccurate it was.

Real Florists can now log in and amend the listings free of charge.

Alternatively, the f2f team here will do it for you. Please support us!

I would say that the UK listings are accurate on a greater scale.

We don't know much about how USA florists will react yet.

I think I've heard that somewhere before too.....

FYI - To Universal, Vuzien and any other directory provider in this thread ... Please take the advertising elsewhere. We have a forum for that - and this isn't it.

Thread hijacking for the purpose of hawking your own product is seriously frowned upon. Keep it up and you will be uninvited from FlowerChat.

If you have something to contribute to the topic at hand - feel free. Show us that you have something to offer to the community.

Smoochies to the one-eyed chicklet!!!!! I was beginning to think we were taking on non-paying ads!!!Especially when I was told that if I "paid" I could have the non-existing, out of business, non-florist listings removed from my zip code...and I was not even listed!!!

Catching UP - Catching ON

Based on this old thread....I decided to see if our shops were listed in Teleflora's Find A Florist (findaflorist.com).

Our shop in Daingerfield Texas, creatively named The Daingerfield Flower Shop, has been Teleflora since before we owned it. If you check the listings for Daingerfield Texas - you may see us - if you have 2x magnifying glasses and go to the bottom of the page. Otherwise all you will see is out of town shops.

Our shop in Omaha, Texas is not shown at all.

Somehow - I am certain that this is at least partly our fault. With all the nickel and diming Teleflora does - we must have missed paying one of the nickel or dime charges to at least be represented in our home town.

Lol.....we'll get this fixed soon.

Teleflora won't list you unless you pay them to host your web site. Make sure they don't have a "view our storefront" listing for you. If they do, tell them to take it off, you won't even get the orders from it. They are thieves pure and simple. And the $20 a month quality assurance fee is non optional, and its complete BS as tons of members of TF are sending members only (OG's) and how do we check the quality of their non existant shops? Hmmmm? I say, dump em and dump em now. Its 2007 and no flower shop needs an antiquated Wire service that does nothing but rob you blind every month and create problems and try to sell you crap you don't need. Oh dear, I think I need some coffee.:fdevil:

offer coupon code

I've been advertising with them for quite a few years now. I have a link to my website on it also. I get many calls/orders from this directory. You get quite a few zip codes for one fee and that is what makes it worth it. If it was only for one or two zips that would be different. It's gained popularity quite a bit in our area in the last year.

I give and offer of $5.00 off by mentioning the ad. When they mention it I know they found us there. About 50% mention the ad and the other 50% say the name of the site or similar and I can figure it out. Weird how only hald the people notice the offer or care.

Well worth the price for us!

I do the same, I offer a $5 off first order, mention coupon code, we get tons of orders from locate, and a lot do use the coupon code, so I know for sure it is working, some months stronger than others, but worth the investment.

TexasFlowerGuy - on findaflorist.com, you have one of those 'free' storefronts. The link goes to a TF site and if a customer orders there, TF is the actual seller and you *may* receive the order as a wire-in from TF HQ. I say *may* because at least one florist tested his storefront and the order was sent to a different store.

If you want your own site listed and linked (instead of the storefront), I believe the cost is $500 annually, plus additional money to have the upgraded listing. Call customer service and they can explain it to you.

We had our listing deleted because we didn't like TF showing products we don't carry and establishing prices we have no control over, plus we believe our $750 is better spent elsewhere.

Seasonal - you can contact locateaflowershop.com for their current prices for upgraded listings. I recommend the package with the links ($169.95).

Good point on the $750, I need to look into this myself.

I believe that locateaflowershop.com is one of your best buys (besides Ilocal), but neither of them are on the 1st (or 2nd) page of a Google lookup for Dangerfield TX Florist or Florist Dangerfield TX from my computer. What comes up for me is Teleflora's online directory then flowershopnetwork.com. I see why, locateaflowershop.com does not have a town listing for Dangerfield...that I could find anyway. While it would be a great relative link to your website, it may take a bit for them to get a SE listing on a first page (and then maybe not) .....so I am not sure how many orders you might get until then.
