Need Help Want To Be Ftd Free!

I want to be released from FTD, could someone help me and explain exactly what I have to do? I couldn't find anything in the FTD manual, no surprise there!!!!

Help me be FTD FREE!!!:help:

When I quit them at one store 18 months ago, I Merc'd them a message that said , "Please terminate my FTD membership." It is really that simple.

They did call back wanting me to reconsider, I told them no.

The info is in the BIG FTD membership book, but it is there. You have to go through the first few pages, where all the different dept info is listed.

Watch the dates, they go by publication/codification deadline, I think
Feb 20th would have been the deadline for getting out before the APR/MAY/JUN book. If you quit after the publication deadline, you're locked in for fees till the next publication deadline.

We quit last June or July I think - sent a merc to the qppropriate membership dept, faxed the same, e-mailed and sent a certified letter.

We did all of that as well, June of 2005. On the certified letter be sure to get the return receipt added so you know it was received and signed for.

One other thing -- be sure YOU owe them money. Not vice-versa. If they owe you money, it can take months and months to get it.

Keep track of every letter sent, every phone call made and with whom you spoke, including date and time... leave nothing to chance. I mean NOTHING!

When we fired FTD in 2005 I basically Spammed them!
I sent an email to the Canadian rep, Frank Stornelli, informing him of my decision and he replied asking why. I also emailed the credit card dept, my marketplace rep, the membership dept, accounting and several others who I dealt with on a regular basis and received several replies which I kept as proof that they were informed the day before the deadline.
Having said that, I would courier your dismissal of FTD to them (signature required) tout suite (NOW) so they can get it in time AND SPAM THEM TOO!

Good luck and don't back down; YOU DON'T NEED THEM!!!!!

Yes to all of the above! The faxes, the emails, the certified letters, the records of every phone call, including date and name of person with whom you spoke, and make certain that they owe you no money (no credits).

Freedom is a sweet, peaceful feeling.
 
My plan, in a couple months when the time finally arrives is this.

Since I have spoken to my retained lawyer, and shown him the contract that we signed decades ago that states "membership can be canceled by either party with 30 days written notice", is to go out OWING THEM money.

Sending the termination letter with the final full payment check accompanied by a noterized letter stating "by cashing the enclosed check you signify your agreement that our membership is terminated effective 30 days from the date of this letter as per our contract".

Sent registered of course.

Well that is not going to be a problem, I can't remember the last time I received a check from them. #1 reason I want out, sick of working for nothing!!! :hammer:

You guys are great, took a break to see what you all had to say, but I am slammed today so I gotta get back to work and most of the orders today are direct orders, yeah, and none from FTD!

Ahmmm... if you never get a check and always have to pay in..be sure it is because of extra products/services you are using(and paying for)..and not because you are sending more orders than you are receiving! If you are sending more orders than you are filling you need to do a little more research before you make this decision. IMHO

Hey Julz: Just add up their annual costs to you for membership dues and other ancillary $ervices such as merc and order transmission fees and without any your product purchases or optional $ervices.

Then, take the total annual costs to you and divide that by the number of annual outgoing orders you send.

That will give you your COST PER OUTGOING ORDER and that's the comparison you need to make to determine, if in fact, they are a liability or an asset to your shop.

Facts are, and we've all had this discussion many times before, the only profits a REAL FLORIST makes are on their OUTBOUND ORDERS. The incoming is so highly discounted coupled with YOUR FREE DELIVERY that, all you wind up doing is SPINNING YOUR WHEELS by thinking that, you're doing business by getting a check every month or offsetting the costs of your outgoing and so, you don't have to send them a check.

It's all part of their SMOKE and MIRROR game and unless you crunch the numbers to reality, you'll get snookered every time.

On average, their annual costs to you can be anywhere from $3K to $6K per year and only because you need a place to send your outgoing orders through.

That, my REAL FLORIST FRIEND, is a whole lotta CASH coming from your till, which could be better spent on your own efforts to CAPTURE YOUR CUSTOMER'S 100% FLORAL SALE FIRST and before THEY TRY TO BEAT YOU TO THAT PUNCH and SKIM OFF all of the GRAVY!

Do not make the mistake by believing that, THEY ARE YOUR FRIEND and PARTNER, and as such, they will help you grow your business. They are nothing more than a FORE PROFIT for themselves company who views you as just another passive stream of revenue and an occasional FLORAL ORDER FILLER for the orders which THEY WERE UNABLE to BAIT and SWITCH via their DROP SHIP features.

Mark, watch out. That old letter you signed years ago, most likely has been superceded by other documents. You old contract probably had a clause where FTD retained the right to change the contract at any time, a little like the credit card companies do to everyone.

Be careful with them, they really try to make it hard to leave. I think they believe that since you are leaving anyway they do not have to be nice. The biggest item to keep in mind is leave owing them money. They will try to screw you. Remeber the guy holding the money has the upper hand.
