Is there any way you can add an element to show if they are up, down or equal. I think it would help to put the sales into some sort of perspective.

Our wire ins are the same as last year, a tiny bit up (looked at Sun thru Sat (today)). The incomings flew in today. My two favorite words on almost every order... after the first choice... "OPEN ORDER". My average wire in order $60.64.

We had very few wire in's, and lots of in town orders. WE had one very unusual from the new Teleflora order gathers, we filled the order to value at stuffed animal, one I love you balloon and 10 tulips first choice purple tulips 2nd choice any color. We got a call from the recipent they only wanted purple tulips, we said we only had yellow tulips with touch of white, customer we do not like the tulips replace we sent double bloom white tulips with purple accessories and purple ribbon with a balloon to match We love You balloon. They call us back will not let us pick up flowers, they want to keep and they are very disappointed with the choice we made for the tulips, we said we will pickup, they would not let us pickup, they want to keep them free, we will be right there to pickup we will not come to the door. Called Telefora, the customer contacted Teleflora a few minutes after the order received and they said they wanted there money and wanted to keep the flowers. THER IS NO WAY THEY ARE KEEPING THE FLOWERS AND US LOSING OUT. YOU CAN FORGET THAT TELEFLORA.

Carri,

I probably could have but can't edit the poll now, and at this point we are too far along in the voting.

I was curious as to the range in numbers and what is typical.

MCOCHRA8-You filled the order absolutely correctly-if Teleflora sends a can, you'll deny but then probably fight like hell to get full payment. It's stressful to have to fight for what is due you. The customer service people generally do not support the florists who are 100% in the right. It's these incidents that sap your strength during the holiday rush. You should not even be expected to make a return trip to pick up the "second choice" on the order.

10 - but added plenty of new customers (you made me figure out how to do it Boss).

I like that just fine.

We added FTD wire service last month and we were positively slammed with wire in orders! It caught me off guard. Thank you Nordlie and CP&F for having flowers on the trucks for me to buy three times this week over and above my preorder. I only had one extra designer and two drivers but I've been in this business a long time and we got through okay. I did suspend finally because we reached our max for out of town deliveries but we accepted in town delivery orders until we closed. I refered all my out of town requests to neighboring shops, and I hope some day they will do the same favor for me. I did not sleep at all last night, stayed up all night and finished the orders received for delivery today. Then we filled the new orders while the drivers were out. They came back, reloaded and left. I did not make any promises I could not keep and I had many customers stop in and pick up something. I stayed open until my last driver got back and serviced a few more customers during that time. Mother's Day happens every year about this same time, so it shouldn't come as a total surprise to anyone at 3:00 on Saturday afternoon. Having two wire services this year kept us running, but we did fine. I sent very few wire orders out, but received many more in's this year over last year. But I am very glad to be home on the couch with my laptop typing this message!! My kitty missed me all week!!

A side not to the wire ins which appear to be dropping rapidly I found that 77% of my web order that came directly into my system were what would have been traditional wires in from another florist.

Yes RC 77% of my incoming web orders that came directly into my system were from outside of my market place. What I do not have a handle on is the fact that we took many orders over the phone from customers that were looking at our web site but wanted to place order directly. I know that number is greater then what went through the system but next question is how many from outside my market place.

You are correct RC and my feeling has been that over time my incoming web order either directly into system or web via phone should equal my lost in wire ores except these orders are profitable. And we are now doing direct email marketing via constant contact to all web customers that allow us to market to them.

How they find me? Good question I am number one on Google number one with yahoo. I also have bought names like mis spellings of Chappell's Florist and Shelburne Florist . South Burlington florist that all point to my web site.
