Here's a disturbing set of OG sites. All are operated by Georges Flowers of Roanoke, VA.

The worst are the phony directories like
http://www.roses-direct.com/ which has city pages like http://roses-direct.com/Michigan-Florists/Detroit-Florists.htm
and
http://www.florist-network.com/ with city pages like http://www.florist-network.com/Illinois-Florists/Chicago-Florists.htm
and
http://www.dfwfloral.com/ with city-name doorway pages like http://www.dfwfloral.com/States/Ca/fresno_ca.htm . This one even sports fake addresses in every US city.

Here are a few other URLs they operate:

http://www.samedayflorist.com/
http://www.american-floral.com/
http://www.dallasfloral.com/

Make special note of the Better Business Bureau and FTD logos on the samedayflorist.com site.

Ugly pages too.... shame, shame, shame... I do notice that the wording on all the pages is the same wether or not they have florists listed...

Should be good food for the meeting in Detroit in two weeks...MFA...SAF... you folks getting this?

Check out this text

From the About Us pages:

"(We) reserve the right to reject any order that we deem questionable or possibly fraudulent"

I suggest florists do the same with these orders.

Aren't sites with the FTD logo required to conspicuously identify their real business name and actual location?

reply to being listed as OG

George's Flowers does operate a National Web site SameDayFlorist.com We do not own many of the domains listed in the above post. Consumers are informed on phone orders where we are located and that we are not the filling florist. Our web site has our local address listed. We do not charge a wire or service fees to customers that order online or over the phone. We strive to price items on our site to give the filling florist more than suggested retail for the product and delivery fee. When a customer orders a 50.00 item we always wire out a $50.00 order. We also explain to the customer that the delivering florist removes a delivery fee from the total they send. The majority of order we get from SameDayFlorist are for areas where the consumer has tried and failed to find a local shop - Areas that only have 1 or 2 local shops or only - also served by shops. Typically not easy orders to get filled for just quick bucks. We are a real florist with 24+ years.
Thanks for your attention.

Thanks for the comment... which site's are not your's then?

Also, and if you do own some of the ones listed with city names, like Dallasfloral.com (did you get that from Costello?), and your in VA, how do you justify using these sites to gather orders to send back to these cities?

TIA...

My shop is in Anaheim, CA yet that site's page of http://www.dfwfloral.com/States/Ca/anaheim_ca.htm claims to have a flower shop located right here in our town. I doubt you'd send any orders booked by that site to us but how do you think the folks at Visser's and Collins' would feel about this page? Or any other real florist that sees a fake address in their city on that site?

What about your obligation to tell consumers the truth? Whether they are charged service fees or not, if they believe they are purchasing direct from a shop in any of those cities, then they have intentionally been mislead by these sites. I believe it's called 'passing off.'

Is competing in today's market so tough that your business must resort to wholesale deception to get sales?

Urban Florist New Site Look

Don't know if anyone else has noticed that Urban has put a new face on the old scam. http://www.urbanflorist.com/category.asp?fn=fullerton-florist . Nice, clean, contemporary look that should hook in a whole new set of victims.

My favorite link on that page is "See What Clients are Saying About Us" . That link should really go to http://ripoffreport.com/results.asp...ubmit2=Search!&q5=urban+florist&Search=Search . Can't the Vancouver law authorities do something about these guys?

It appears the 1-800-flowers images have disappeared, however.

I "noticed" Urban...

last night......IT WOULD BE PRUDENT...to verify ALL orders from FTD/TF call centres, as I DO KNOW, for a fact, that Vancouver Flower Company, and it's horrific group of theft sites, were removed from FTD, on "friendly" terms!!, and I WOULDN'T put it past TF HQ, to re-establish VFC's ability to transfer orders during "holiday" periods

Better watch those phone in orders also. I'm sorry folks but their orders are still getting filled with a layer of skim added to MOM via those that don't know any better.

It's very interesting watching from the outside, all the ws's Box of Tricks and hoops you folks jump thru to expose the same thing day and nite, each month and every Holiday and every year.
Outsourcing at its best...let someone else do the work while the holder of the contract gets all the PERKS.
