(which I'm not going to tell  ) You can tell me, I won't say a word....

It is true that if you don't lie or cheat, you might be in disadvantage even in this industry.
I would not say disadvantaged...Having been a "cheater" I prefer ethics over dollars any day!

If you are hoping that people, particularly newbies like me, feel the same way you old-timers do about the current status of this industry, you will be very disappointed.
No, I hope you never feel the same way! I hope you don't get burned out trying to stop something like a run away train...and I hope it never runs you over!

I don't want you to feel the same way, but I do want you to care about the current state of the industry, raise awareness and work to correct some of this industries ills over time.

You "newbies" have the advantage of us "old-timers" knowing how things were, and the ability to point out who's who, what the real scams are and much more. And you have the ability to show us new things without our decades of experience telling us we can't do something cuz it just won't work. It takes both to make things work!

So, from an "old-timer" to a "newbie", I hope you never have the 23.5 hour days I did, I hope you never have to miss a family event for the sake of a customer, and I hope, beyond all hope that you will at some point in time, slay the dragon I have been beating on for years....and return the code of ethics this industry was built upon to every floral outlet across the globe.

So even though I am a newbie in this industry, I can actually see the frustration that some experienced florists must be feeling. On the other hand, compared to some other professional areas that I happen to know about, this industry, though highly competitive, hasn't reached the point where cheaters are almost guarantted to trounce the honorable. This industry isn't that bad.

It is true that if you don't lie or cheat, you might be in disadvantage even in this industry. But I suspect it's not totally fatal. You can't say that in certain other profession.

That's very nice to know and a good perspective to keep in mind.

Thanks Goldie
