When I click on the video, those messages come up. I cannot get it to open to a new window. Obviously, I am seriously techie impaired.

Absolutely Stunning! And having seen Les Mis last summer by the traveling troupe from Broadway.......that was perfect. I've watched it three times this morning.........
Sorry Palms (unless this was your cuz).....I hope Susan continues right to the top!
(and to the young chick with the rolling eyes....how's that for a stick in the eye! )

Thank God, the video opened here at the shop!

I was one chill bump all over while she was singing, and by the end, tears were streaming down my face. What a voice! What a story! What a talent!

Thanks for sharing this Thom.

What beauty and grace! Did she say she had never been kissed? I would love to e-mail this to friends but really don't know how, just ask the man when I get home.
Can here him now" Ellen, you got to be kidding, you know how." Maybe I do if you just tell me how, haha
I forgot for pete sake!
After a very bad personal day yesterday, she was sweet to watch, thanks for sharing

Phenomenal...

Pitch perfect and fantastic! But.......would we have been so impressed had she been physically beautiful? I wonder why we expect only the pretty to have talent and we practically worship the beautiful that are sometimes only marginally talented.

I love the music from Les Mis. I loved being witness to the play in Toronto. I have the music on my computer. This song is among my favourites. She made me cry, and that's okay.

Thank you Thom.

I saw this 2 days ago on Yahoo.
The tears were streaming down my face. I was (am) so happy for her.

I do agree with Chez. The beautiful people are always favored. Even by the ugly people. Which is a shame.

I think this woman/beauty thing is due to the male dominated entertainment industry hierarchy.

The three tenors are not attractive but have beautiful pipes. Phil Spector is repulsive but was a music genius. I can go on.

Then I think of Barbara Streisand and how she was hounded to get her nose fixed.

But to be honest, when I saw Susan my first thought was "honey you need a day at the spa." :(

I am not sure that it was a triumph of talent over beauty. To me she seemed unlikely because of her country charm as it were, her obvious lack of big city-ness. I felt that was what they were playing up to, and I was thrilled by the whole thing. From never performing for a large audience, she surely had stage presense(sp). I don't usually watch these shows, because of the snarkiness.

She is not unattractive, and this shouldn't be portrayed as ugly duckling syndrome. To me it's more like fish out of water, in a very charming, joyful way. A different hairstyle and a different dress would present a whole different person, but saying she is unattractive is farther than I would go.
