Since today seems to be bash FTD web hosting, I just thought I'd interject Teleflora web hosting into the mix as well....

Having just spoken to a nice young lady from IL, I thought it pertinent to ask the question... WHAT ARE YOU TF'rs THINKING?

I mean, $3.50 PER ORDER, TAX on every web order on top of your monthly fee??? :hammer: Every 143 orders is another $500.00 to TF every month that you could be pocketing...

Tell ya what, I'll put up a shiny brand new site for you and only rape you $2.50 per order and handle all the changes you want...:poke:

I knew I should have started a wire service instead of finishing high school...

I'm curious to know, what is the percentage rate of florists who use FTD vs Teleflora? Since I don't use a wire service, I would be interested to know which signs on more florists? I'm really shocked how much these companies rake the florists over the coals with their fees.

So speaking with one shop you assume that is what everyone pays?
Um no, speaking with one shop (today) and hundreds over time, I'm assuming that that is what the majority of unsuspecting florist are paying.

There are "special deals" for "special cases" to be had with any of the BIG3...

No, we're not all paying that much. Also there is a HUGE value to an internet order being integrated, so that there is not a need to retype it into my system. There is NO way a holiday could run smoothly if I had to type in all of my web orders. At a holiday, I'd need to add another body just for that, which is already hard to find at a holiday. I'd also have very frantic peak times of the day, like 10am-noon, when the bulk of the orders come in and drivers are trying to get out and still make pool, by times, etc. We have just enough man power and time as it is to quickly "scrub" a web order and send of the email conf. This only takes 30 seconds, maybe more if you're checking a funeral.

I love my TF site and the smooth flow of order processing whether it is a local order, dove or web order.

Just as an FYI ...My website from media 99 integrates directly into my pos and I do not have those kind of charges...it might be worth investigating to see what current websites...non ws...offer. Many changes have been made on a lot of them...but I agree that one of the selling points of any site is the integration...you definately can eliminate one person when you have that...
Mark...maybe do a comparison study and post it
I'd be interested...

Media99 integrates to my POS also (RTI). We did look at both, way back when. I have several close florist friends with Media99 sites that are RTI and we're both in the same ballpark in terms of fees.

I would NEVER entertain a website without integration, nor would I entertain a WS without integration.

Didnt realize you had two sites...you go girl! Which one performs better...tell me to mind my own business if you need...just curious. I had an FTD Fol for three months once when they were "free"...then my paranoia set in and I felt that they had too much access. Hey...being paranoid dont mean they arent after you...lol

Melissa,
There SHOULD NOT BE.......But, the truth is, that there is!!

Often, the small shops are less knowledgeable than the large shops, and often require much more assistance with website stuff than the large shops. Also, the volume of the large shop may dictate the terms they are able to drive with the wire service.

Should there really be that much difference in what shops are paying?

There shouldn't be that much difference in rebates either... but there is.

Then we have CC processing....

To the WS... there are florists that make them lots of money and florists that make them a little bit of money. That's life. It's like anything else. You buy one bunch of carns, one box of carns or 10 boxes of carns? There will be three different prices. If you live in a town with five wholesalers, now you have 15 different prices.

No no no... I only have a TF custom site. We considered Media99 when we switched from our original web hosting co several years ago. We went with TF. Media99 was just beginning... honestly I don't recall what was the deciding factor. The website is my brothers baby. I am quite clueless.

We in TF top 100 florist. We had a site with them as well as credit card processing. Just for the record... There was no nogotiating a better price on the $3.50 per order fee. They would reduce the $79.00 fee to $59.00 dollars. That not even a drop in the bucket compared to what I was loosing per month in the per order fee.

Boss you are absolutely right!!!! When you do the math that 3 or 4 or $500.00 or more a month can go a long way in advertising or web upgrades or on the table for food.

Strider is the same monthly amount and NO per order fee.

A floristware is working hard on intergrating with Strider. I will keep those sales seperate until that happens as it is really no big deal to total them on a spread sheet and add them to your sales for the account.

Well worth the savings!!

Strider sites= $0 per order fee, that was a no brainer for me, and soon will be able to integrate with my Floristware POS....well worth it

I am saving well over $3000 a year just in per order fees alone :)

...with that being said, I am sure TF per order fee is negotiable just like all fees with TF, it depends on your rep and how much you send out with them....

I would bet that Heather is not paying $3.50 per order, and its probalbly half that price for her, since Im sure they value her business, because of her size and outgoing orders through dove is probalbly very high...all you have to do is talk to your rep and get those fees adjusted....you may not be able to adjust the per order fee, but im sure they could throw you a few months free membership to make up for it ;) Just ask!

I was able to get my fees adjusted all the time,BUT, I still chose to dump their assses! I love being WS free!:poke:

Unlike my experiences with an FTD site - I am interested in the commentary for this topic as I have never experienced any details, management, or anything with a TF site.

I know it's life, and that it goes on everywhere, I just don't think it's right. Somehow the word predatory comes to mind. Just sayin' not bashing, so don't shoot me yet;)

Don't you think you ought to finish your plant section on your own website first before making offers like that? ;)

sorry couldn't resist poking back a bit.

If you have any significant amount of online orders, especially like Heather said at holidays - it's a must have.

Yes, Joe but...(I'm waiting on some technical data from the folks at Gantec that provide the growing material we use on our plants.)(remind me after Easter and I'll send you a sample to test, I think you'll be impressed)

Funny how this thread got side tracked by the TF'ers with TF sites and POS...Should have guessed it, since there is no real defense for the $3.50.

For the record, Strider integrates to MAS...
