Boss I don't think any of us are defending paying $3.50 per order. I think we are saying the situation we are in works for us. I have had a site with TF for a long time and they weren't getting $3.50 per order when I signed up. You made a blanket statement towards TF sites so those of us who had them defended ourselves. People keep talking about the amount of money saved by changing to another site. If we wouldn't spend so much time on this site we would probably make more money too.

I have a TF site and a TF POS...I do not stay with TF because of integration because that doesn't matter to me too much right now...

I havn't had any compelling reasons to go elsewhere...I am a one man band and don't have a real grasp on the website behind the scenes stuff...TF takes care of everthing for me and I make changes as I see fit...More often than not other sites tend to be more hands on and more hours set up(what I have been told anyway) I just don't have the time or ambition for it right now, so the 3.50 I pay, it is a convenience fee a convenience I choose to pay right now, until I get my head on straight or can hire some help so i can spend time concentrating on these things..

Just a thought...

If you have the time to re enter web orders, or a low volume, you may consider hiring someone on an extremely PT basis to do these adjustments for you. Last summer we found a VERY tech savvy, super intelligent 16 year old who we hired to do some SEO and website things for us PT. He eventually started doing things from home. We found him on craigs list. This is the perfect job for a stay at home mom/dad, college/high school kid, etc.

For instance, if you email you changes to this person, or have them come in for two hours once a week... this might cost you $40 or $50 tops. If you are saving in the end $3.50 per order, anything over 15 orders per week is savings in your pocket. If you're making changes once a month rather than weekly, anything over 15 orders per MONTH is savings in your pocket

Don't feel like you need to do the website updates yourself if this is not something you care to focus on. I would suggest being a little bit knowledgeable on it though, in case the person you hire leaves you without notice.

Ta da.... Florist Web Site Help is here!

EVEN BETTER!

Seriously everyone. If I were averaging 5 or less web orders a day (and less than 30 or so per day at major floral holidays), I would not hesitate to jump on $0 per order fee web hosting.

Beyond that volume, I think integration takes priority over a per order fee.... IMHO, but WTFDIK.

(did I do all that initial crap right?)

I love WTFDIK, my favorite! Ryan needs to add that to the abbreviated list :bangles:

But Heather, you can have both! You don't (well maybe you do with RTI) have to have a WS web site to integrate to many POS systems...

All I'm saying....

True... many non WS websites will integrate to many POS systems. I just don't know how many non WS websites will integrate with POS systems equal to those with the features in systems like RTI or MAS. They also would need to integrate with dove in my case.

To my knowledge there is only TF and Media99 that integrate with both, RTI and dove.

Boy that's a thread of the month quote if I ever saw one...

There's a break even point on per month hosting vs per order fees...I'm not up to doing the math right now tho...

But even if I did have per order fees - would I be happier to pay say $350 for 100 orders a month, or $3500 for a thousand?

I'll take $3500 for a thousand please, Alex. But see I'm not looking at this as saving money, rather making money.

I'm a bit funny that way.

What about the low send fee and reciprocity fees? No florist should ever pay these, and should get them waived forever, as soon as they show up on a statement.

Not the site, but the POS. Assuming I would ever change POS systems, to a non WS website hosting co integrated with another POS AND dove that offers $0 per order fee on web orders.

Media99 integrates to my POS also (RTI). We did look at both, way back when. I have several close florist friends with Media99 sites that are RTI and we're both in the same ballpark in terms of fees.

I would NEVER entertain a website without integration, nor would I entertain a WS without integration.

Totally...

I am hearing thru the 'grapevine' that FTD FOL sites are in for a BIG makeover sometime in June...don't know much more about it...

My wife made a point last night about spell check on card messages and address verification. These are all things we do as we enter in orders. I know when I recieve orders through the dove sometimes they come out all screwed up looking and we have to manually fix them.

Yes, Joe but...(I'm waiting on some technical data from the folks at Gantec that provide the growing material we use on our plants.)(remind me after Easter and I'll send you a sample to test, I think you'll be impressed)

Funny how this thread got side tracked by the TF'ers with TF sites and POS...Should have guessed it, since there is no real defense for the $3.50.

For the record, Strider integrates to MAS...

Mark, are you telling me that you are losing sales because you want some really great page on plants?

Why not post some cataloged photos of green plants, planters and blooming plants in the interim?.

Pages can be put up and taken down in minutes. Why not at least have a product to sell.

Ask yourself this question. If someone wants to send a plant in your city and they go on your website and see "under construction" what will they do? go to your competitors page?

think about it

Um no, speaking with one shop (today) and hundreds over time, I'm assuming that that is what the majority of unsuspecting florist are paying.

There are "special deals" for "special cases" to be had with any of the BIG3...

Me, too, Boss. 3.50 per order. On an average 60.00 order, that's about 6% off my supposedly 100% order. I'm seriously considering dropping my TF website. I have a FSN website and it works just fine. And cheaper, too.
