Why I sent in my termination letter to Teleflora

TF contacted me in response to my e-mail to them of the 23rd. They advised that, invariably, they are un-able to remove florists from the first directory published after the correct termination declaration is sent in for a variety of reasons (of their own making). Further, one is not billed for either print and/or electronic directory - let us hope that the statement(s) reflect that.

Jamie and Karen above, please note.

Quite why one has to submit termination prior to publication of next directory then is beyond me. I recognise that they want terminations with-in certain time frames or limits but, for example, sending out directories to people who are imminently no longer members goes back to points such as waste of resources, time and effort.

That is interesting, since the directory has always been THE excuse why florists couldn't pull out if they missed the deadline, which in some cases could mean 4-5 months. Sort of pokes holes in that reason. Glad I don't have to deal with that BS anymore. The wire free life is sort of care free! (in comparison!)

Yes, blows their "logic" right out of the water. Roll on the last few days before liberation!

It's got nothing to do with the directory. It is psychological warfare. They make the deadlines ridiculously far out, so that when people realize the current directory season is almost up they will call to quit and hear "It is too late to quit, your next opportunity to leave the network will be November the 14th" The logical thing is to go ahead and send your letter for the November deadline, but it is so far out that most people won't because they worry the network will spend the next 4 months screwing them over. So they wait, and the vicious cycle starts all over. Eventually many people just give up and stick with it even though "they know it's a rip-off" LOTS of the older shops in town have said this very thing to me

Well, if shops aren't following through because it's "too far out" they're just plain lazy. That's a lame excuse. They deserve what they get if that's as proactive as they can be.

We sent our letter on Feb. 26th and turned everything off on March 1st. I wanted to be done so we were done. We had to pay our membership dues, and yadyada but did not have to worry about orders floating around in the system.

The directory info given here is interesting. Probably explains why we have still gotten calls over the last few months. We just figured they were using the out of date books LOL.

My good friend who is WS exec. tells me the best way to leave is how Lori did here. Send the letter, once you have return reciept, then turn off maching or remove program and pay your dues till the end. Done.....................

That's the way I did it too. I didn't want to have anything else to do with them.

With the directory thing, it is a combination of things I think. The main one is probably incompetence, but I also think it's true that they then still have you in the directory if they manage to talk you back down from the tree they think you ran up. But, I also think it's to have a big fat book, bigger is better ya know;)

me too, done over and out...shut off everything I had to do woth them and took no more orders period.....

Over here before TF went to eFlorist if you cancelled your membership you left the following month. An update of all the florists that had joined up/left or there account was on stop was sent to each member with their stateent to adjust the book themselves. I know the UK is tiny in comparison but I don't see why it can't be done. Now eFlorist (TF) is completely computerised and there is no faxing at all so when you leave they just alter the system and let you know when you will come of the system that next month to coinside with the statements.
I just can't believe in todays IT society that all the networks OG etc aren't computerised and still fax and phone orders through - this makes so much sense and would allow more freedom to the florists to leave the network as they wished without all this pratting about.

"this makes so much sense and would allow more freedom to the florists to leave the network as they wished without all this pratting about. " That's the point. They don't want us leaving so they make it difficult. Instead, they should be making it desirable to stay.
