the "relaunching of the brand"

I get 4 florists vs 14 Drop@@@@ on that page.
And he said that would not be the case.... Like I said, Yea...right!

The new site suX's big time IMO. The old one was much more "flower friendly" and looked like a more professional presentation of the sentiments people send flowers for.

The new one, looks like it was designed for Halloween and launched a bit late.

JB...you're on his friendlies list... why don't you send Goildston a join request to FlowerChat and let's see if he's got the ball's to show up!

And he said that would not be the case.... Like I said, Yea...right!

No he didn't say that. Not to me anyway.

I asked him about it and he *seemed* to not know.

His statement was about them being clearly labeled, not the preponderance of them vs florist items.

I somehow had the impressions (albeit obviously mistaken) that they were going to quit showing the boxed stuf arranged, which is where the confusion comes from anyway.

Not sure if I like the color in the new branding. The box with florist delivered items and several in the slide show is more then they have had in the past. The site does prominently displayed same day delivery by zip code. It is an improvement for member florist that want to fill orders.

Is it just me or does the 'new FTD Black & Gold" look like web design circa 2001? Flat, static, cheap.

...and FTD did add a whole lot more SEO way down below the fold. :>

Yes, it's a very dated look. They could have done much better with contemporizing the black and gold colours. A little web 2.0 design wouldn't hurt at all. But ... what do you expect from a guy whose company sells dial-up access?? ;)

Please - don't call that SEO. That's essentially sitewide footer links, with enough filler text to make each page on the site look like duplicate content. TF sites have been guilty of this for years. Probably one of the reasons Bruce Clay fired TF a few years ago.

If it was real SEO the text would be varied and they would have used CSS to position the useful text high in the code, not buried at line 12xx in a div called "legal" ... amateur hour. :)

The interesting thing that I find is when I type my zip code in for delivery today, the response is "The earliest delivery date for any products to 98272 is Tue. November 18 2008." I guess they can't find my competitor who is "M****e Floral the preferred FTD florist ", who is open 6 days a week.

Still happy to not be a part of the mayham!!!

im there with ya...if we don unite soon, we will not have anybody to unite with!!!!! everybodys whins and nobody knows where to start to do anything about it, they have gleened all the orders to sell back to us and we keep on buying them!!!

In my opinion.........................

what do you think we should do????

REAL FLORISTS should STOP enabling them by filling ALL SAME-DAY/NEXT DAY-DELIVERY order requests, other than for other REAL FLORISTS like themselves.

Best case scenario is to DROP THE WSs all together, which is what many shops have already done, or are in the process of doing.

Let's face it KIDS! Not only has the WIRE ORDER PIE gotten a lot smaller due to the drop in order volume, the pieces from their pie has shrunk as well, due to their lower SRP's and the increase in their also served bys.

Only question left, and for the DIE HARDS is; How long can they afford to continue to pay the WS's annual dues and fees of from $3,600.00 to $6,000.00 or more, for less and less HIGHLY DISCOUNTED incoming orders, at less and less GROSS DOLLAR AMOUNTS, coupled with their expectation of YOUR FREE DELIVERY $ERVICE?

Seems to me, shops would be far better off using that money to place themselves (not their WS partners) at the fore front in their own local markets with their WS independent websites garnering 100% customer sales plus their $ervices charges, all of which, go directly into their coffers.

Notice today the black and gold is gone

Back to normal pages with color, no blinding black lines and bland text. Was that just a test??

wow, that's weird...
I have it bookmarked on the laptop and it's not black and gold, but on the desktop where I have to type the url in, it's black and gold.....ooooweee!

tried that, didn't work - may have to clean cookies...too
hmm deleted cookies...deleted files...refreshed
will try a link http://www.ftd.com/
when I follow the above link, I get the old look, anyone else?
four hours later and from home computer I got the "old" page - no black and gold

It is a test - they are doing A,B,C multivariate testing.

Old one, new one in 2 configurations (one with flash one without)

I am glad to hear they are at least going to recognize the people that carry the logo in good and bad times. We will see

BUMP

Just spent some time looking at the new and improved screw you to the wall concept !!!! Weak

Now if I were the consumer I think that I would be looking at that Save 50% Box and saying the hell with florists !!!!!!!
Take a good look at where the 50% savings originate from !

And......low and behold............there are two pages to view................and 2 florist delivered items.

But wait.................where on the bottom of the page can you go looking for a florist ?
Oh what the heck...........call 1800SENDFTD, who needs the florist anyway ?

"Carrying" the logo in "good times" leads one to "bad times"....

"Carrying" the logo in "good times" leads one to "bad times"....

..........and carrying the logo in REALLY BAD TIMES LEADS TO..........
..............

Just cause I'm having a miserable rotten day and making my staff miserable I thought , Oh what fun it would be to do a test,..........so I called everyone in to join some locals that were meeting with me in my office, along with our Chamber Board re: our annual tree lighting.

All were asked to go shopping on the site, and none were told what my point was.

Low and behold..........each and every one immediately went to the 50% box.
Granted some of these people are frugal and cheap but all agreed that most consumers are looking for savings and don't care how they achieve same.

Summarized reasoning : Before any of them perused further into the sight they all agreed that a 50% saving warranted a serious looksee before they went any further. Two were attracted to the 29.99 Special.

Just for @@@@es and giggles perform the same test and post the results.

Test instructions are simple.......Think like a consumer !

Spent a little time discussing the new site with a few friends that know the game well.
We were all also in agreement on the feeble attempt FTD has made to deceive shops into thinking that the new way is actually geared toward driving business back to its members.

Folks.......If this is all the new kids have got...........and anyone is gonna buy into their sudden commitment...........I'd like to offer this really great bridge that I acquired at a startlingly fabulous price.

Do they really think that people are that dumb to buy into this revitalization of the old ? Yes they do & Yes They Can !
Where have I heard that before ?

Maybe I'd be a little less insulted if they'd have a spot there to search for a Real Local Florist in the town of choice !
