Voting:

1) Votes and comments will be visible to all FC members and the public.
2) FC members will vote by assigning ratings to individual designs. A member may only vote on a single arrangement once, but can vote for as many as they choose.
3) Comments (professional, of course) are highly recommended.
4) Low votes (4’s and below) without comments will be deleted by the Admin Team.
5) The top 12 winners will be the members with the highest point totals as of 12 p.m. midnight, Eastern Time, Sunday October 5.

Tracy's previous post requesting clarification on rule #5 prompted me to make an observation on this rule. Since the winner is determined by the highest point total and not the average rating, abstaining (not voting) on an entry is pretty much like voting a zero on it. Even a low rating like a 5 will help a contestant more than no vote at all.

So what I'm saying is that every vote counts favorably, even if it isn't a 9 or 10.

oooooooo its very exciting, Ive been jotting down the score so far and there seems to be a top 6 at the moment who are breaking away a bit from the others, then theres a few trying to catch up, and then there is around 15 with not much in it, and there is a few coming up from the outside, hehe it sounds like a horse race. If you do a decending rating it only gives you an idea, the highest ones are the ones with the most comments generally :wide:

Whew, I just finished giving everyone at least some points. I gave one 10, a few 9; everyone else got either 7 or 8.

Except me, who got a 6...

Sorry, I guess that was a bit passive agressive.

Rock on, I thought yours was fab.

I wish I'd realized that earlier.. might have rated some things differently. Oh well.

Beth,

Just curious, what would you have done differently that you can't do now?

The only thing I can think of is un-vote so you could give someone a zero that you gave a score to.

Hope that's not the case because that's mean spirited.
RC

You know, I was thinking out loud, and probably shouldn't have posted about it, cuz it's too hard to explain.

No, I wouldn't give anyone a 0 (or even a 1, 2, 3, or 4, since I read that they'd be deleted anyway).

You don't have to explain Beth... :)

And like Shannon said, there isn't anything mean about you.

Read a bit closer. :) The rules say:
Low votes (4’s and below) without comments will be deleted by the Admin Team.
My emphasis. If you want to give a low score, just make sure you include a comment with the reason for the rating.

I have to say the funnest part for me is going to look and seeing if there are any new comments. Weather they are good or bad, I love that part. I like to see how people view my stuff. When I first started posting pics, I would always beg people to critique my stuff, then I'd ask them why they rated them the way they did. I so love hearing everything.

It's made me a better designer. So thanks guys..

Ditto that Shannon....

Bad or good I like to know...You never know what you are doing wrong until someone points it out...

Of coarse there is a good way to do it and a bad way....

V and Shannon,

You guys are so sweet.

RC,

I'm confused, but that's not unusual. LOL

Cathy,

Thanks for the clarification.. I should have read closer.

woah,

So I was doing my morning inspection of comments on my arrangement, I just noticed you can see how many times it has been viewed! Mine has been viewed 3264 times. As of right now. Holy Moly..I didn't even know we had that many FC members. Or am I missing something.

Shannon,

As Cathy so faithfully points out, the Gallery is open to the public and receives massive amounts of traffic. The Gallery has nearly 9,250,000 views. That's why we want people to upload more work - show off your stuff!

I'm guessing that's a few more than would see it in your shop. ;)

And be sure to use descriptive titles, include good descriptions, choose on-topic keywords and (occasionally) include a link to your business site.

Earlier in the thread, someone mentioned allowing the public to vote. When the gallery was first built, we did allow non-members to add ratings and comments but unfortunately, the bots and spammers were dropping affiliate links faster than we could remove them. :( It's a shame the abusers ruin it for everyone else.

I made a mistake. Sorry. I edited the score. If there's anyone out there who didn't get any score from me, please let me know. It's kind of hard to navigate the gallery.
I had the same problem the other day - I find the easiest way to get back to the master list is with my back browser button - otherwise the Gallery Gods shift them all 'round and I can't find my way back to where I started!

I always wonder about those #'s when I see "bots" looking at the gallery. How many do you estimate are real viewers vs whatever a "bot" is?
