I'll do even better - we'll name a bunched bouquet after you and then market the h*ll out of it. :>If you lose, do you agree that you put my picture in a frame and worship 3 times a day?

You know how I would compare PF picture with Ricky's Masterpiece?
Number of flowers. That's it.
If PF's picture has 30 flowers and Ricky's masterpiece has only 10 stems in a weird vase (which I tell myself "Oh, I don't need that one"), I would click on PF picture 99% of the time. So do most consumers.
How much was shipping, how much was the vase?
It's funny you mention this, as I was browsing the best sellers section of the proflowers website I noticed several items with a numbers in the name, BIG numbers:
"100 blooms of peruvian lilies"
"200 blooms of peruvian lilies"
"30 assorted tulips"
"3 dozen purple carnations"
"50 blooms of garden spray roses"
"100 blooms of red garden spray roses"
"20 white iris"
"48 assorted petite roses"
"100 blooms of of assorted garden spray roses"
Lets take your wine example Goldie - 10 dollar wine and 100 dollar wine both have the same basic components - grapes, juice, yeast, pectin enzymes, and time to ferment and age.
What makes the difference between the 100 dollar wine and the 10 dollar wine ?
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, and EDUCATION to know HOW TO MAKE the wine.
Yep, the BV definitely loses. Did you really get those roses for $15 from PF or were they from a local market? How much was shipping, how much was the vase?
I dare any of you tommorrow, to send out flowers thrown into a box, with NO THOUGHT or CARE in HOW THE FLOWERS LOOK and send them out. Then listen to the RESPONSE YOU GET.
You are sending out the same thing as what they are sending........
IT TAKES KNOWLEDGE FOR US TO DO OUR JOB CORRECTLY.....THAT JOB IS TO PLEASE OUR CUSTOMER.
Maybe you should not act on the dare......all I want to get across is that our knowedge, skill, and talent in all facets of shop work.....SALES, DELIVERY, DESIGN, PACKING, BOXING, WRAPPING, ACCOUNTING, SALARY, WAGES, or WHATEVER.........That is the difference between Us and Them.
Because of successful marketing.....and the fact that the owners/founders/of Proflowers hired someone who KNEW what to do and had the EDUCATION to perform the job they were hired for.
Not so fast, buckaroo... Ever watch the Food Network, Bravo or HGTV? Design, design, design. Companies are making fortunes off featuring design and designers. There is a segment of the public that celebrates it, seeks it and buys it.Ricky - you're letting your passion and defense of artistic design overrule good business sense amigo.
And this is the problem with *most* artists I fear...
The difference is marketing. PF is doing it well and we just simply aren't. Without the budget, we can reach out to free press, email customers, write about our unique stuff and let people know there's more than off-the-rack. But it is truly a battle with no national presence to help us.Their ever growing sales are telling a huge story you're choosing to ignore.
Nope. Sounding more like an Iron chef than a burger flipper at McDonalds. The burger flipper will always have a job, but will he love it and thrive off of it? Is it a job or a career? This is sounding a bit like the door to door encyclopedia salesmen who thought the public wanted a wall of books on a shelf and would never buy them on cd-roms.
I'm sure it does.......but are their products the ONLY reason for their success.
